Simply Presenting is a well established and much loved workshop that ensures presenters save massive time in preparation and walk away feeling two inches taller. The common complaint we hear on completion is “I wish I’d done this years earlier!”
Pause to breathe. Pause to gather your thoughts. Pause to check your slides or notes. Pause to sip some water. Pause to fully digest a question before answering. Just pause. Pausing gives you control, power and gravitas!
Just because this project is your baby that you’ve worked on solidly for two years, doesn’t mean your audience needs or wants to hear every nuance, every obstacle overcome, every solution considered, every option discarded. They need to make a decision, and they need that information, only that information, and all of the information required, to help them make that decision.
Please spare your audiences ‘death by PowerPoint’. The Speaker Notes area of the handout and the Appendices are the perfect places for the detail.
