Influencing Skills: Reflective Listening

Thursday, December 13, 2012

As part of our Influencing/Team Engagement workshop we often discuss reflective listening and do a small related exercise.  I’ve always been wary of making a big deal of it because I assumed, wrongly as it turns out, that reflective listening was so widely taught that most people would be pretty familiar with it.    Read more...

It’s when the ‘aha’ moments happen for most participants, and the shift from “I don’t like this stuff and will avoid it at any costs” to “I can do this and can even imagine enjoying it”. Good training will demystify the process and break it down into manageable chunks, making it easy, accessible and practical for daily use.  Read more...

Communication Skills: The Essence of Communication Part 2 - The Mental Approach

By Carolyn Crawford

Depending on the Communications Training you choose, this area may not be given as much emphasis as it could be, usually because it’s harder to ‘teach’, and seemingly less tangible than the physical preparation and ‘live’ skills. Having said that, like elite athletes, all with the same intensely high levels of physical fitness and preparation, it’s often in the mental arena that the contest is ultimately won or lost.
